New semester update

To be honest this capstone is not going as well as I had planned, the band is not recording for another month and this project is due somewhat soon. I am slightly frustrated at this because most of our project relies on Unveiling the Ends recording EP… Unless we change up what our project is going to be slightly we will not get this done in time. We have everything set up to go we just have to execute buttons. We know how we want to do the show, we know how the music video is going to be, we have the merchandise designed. We just need to do it all and we cannot do it until the band records.

so pretty much i have finished my research a long time ago and am just waiting for all the details of the band to work out so i can put my knowledge into motion

My essential question is how do you get together a show and make it successful.

MY research will include these resources:

Internet
Looking for other shows and how they are planned
asking around
talking to friends who were or are in popular local bands

This will make it easier and less stressful for me to put together a successful show and have people show up because i will know everything that needs to be done.

I already did the majority of my research and i know what i need to do now. This week I went to one of the shows and took a bunch of pictures and got some good shots.

What is the most appealing to a customer in buying merch?

We are designing Tshirts and whatnot to sell for Unveiling the End and I was wondering the best way to sell them and to know what the customer wants in a shirt. Many results came back about who likes what but here are the best ones. Alot of the people like a simple tshirt with just the band name and some cool colors. Simple but easy to pull off. Many of the more devoted groupies with go with extreme sayings or logos and stand out without caring. The fashion setters however will buy shirts that are NOT a normal Tshirt (ex. tank, longsleeve, sweatshirt, cutoff) and wear the shirts with pride. The most common is somewhere in between a simple design and a bright loud design.

The best ways to promote a concert is by flyers and banners everywhere, also the media has a huge effect on it. Online promotions, tv, news all help tremendously. Myspace is a huge thing for music. Also you will want to know what your target audience is and promote all towards them. Once Alice Cooper had a truck with his band name and date of the show go through london and “break down” which made traffic terrible and national news. pretty soon everyone knew he had a concert.

Constant and well timed reminders also help alot because if you remind someone alot of times and other people do to they will eventually wonder what this event is. And if you catch them at the right time then your good.

Status update for last week.

Last week I was sick all week and did not get anything done but the week before we talked to the venue where we might be holding the concert and we got alot of the details done. This week we will start getting all of the band settled in. The only problems is that we cannot shoot for the video until the recording is completely finished.

Last week I did not accomplish much regarding to my capstone. This week I am wanting to get everything solid for the upcoming show. We can’t do much until the band is finished recording so there will not be much progress until the music is mastered once that is done we will be filming the music video, within the next month or so we are going to go down to the film sight and figure out all of our shots.

This week I plan on talking to the group about getting the tshirts printed and to get more together regarding bands on the upcoming show. Hopefully by the end of this or next week we will have the entire line up of who is playing.
